Thought Writer – Part I
We say that pen is mightier than sword, as it can express our thoughts, ideas & emotions. Let us see how mighty it is and can there be anything mightier than pen.
Pen & Paper: This is the most ancient & inefficient way of writing what we are thinking. Most of the power of ideas is lost during the transmission from mind to paper & during translation from thoughts to words. So, we may think that paper & language acts as a friction, dumping away most of the powerful ideas that we think, or atleast reduce the intensity or impact of that. The proof of this is expression of emotions & feeling. Very few feelings can be expressed in words, because there are no powerful word equivalents of those feelings or emotions. Since ages, many thinkers describe the idea of love, happiness, sadness but are unable to express it with equal intensity to all their readers.
Another disadvantage of writing down on paper is that most of the ideas are short lived. They are like the flashes of memories or intuitions linked in a logical way to our present, but we are unable to comprehend it. Our conscious mind is unable to neither capture nor understand in that short lived moment & it is lost. Most of the thoughts that come to our mind are short lived ones are lost again in the idea pool even before we realize it. Let us call them random ideas or distractions as we fail to fathom them. The other ideas that we think about and we say that we thought about the most influential idea of the century or most horrible/treacherous, are of very low intensity but long lived ideas of our mind. Since they are long enough, we think more & retain more about them. Also they are easier to express in words.
Then in the transition phase came the idea of writing through a machine. We have used typewriters & computers these days. This shift of medium is shifting the whole of writing profession from Books to Blogs. Though most writers still like writing by pen & paper, but machine writing is more efficient comparatively. There are fewer chances of language errors & also you can also find many references & connecting articles online.
Well whatever we say, but it is still primitive way of converting thoughts to written thoughts. Additionally written thoughts have the chances to get misinterpreted as it has happened through ages. Religious scriptures & works of philosophers are thought & perceived differently by different people. So in the next part we will explore the newer ways to do this.
