Well, I’m a 26 yr old female and use OLA cab on a regular basis and today’s incident takes the cake.
I took a cab at 8am from Kammanahalli Bangalore to Bannergatta road, half way through the journey, the cab “breaks down” and there’s a tyre puncture,
the driver gets down and tells me he doesn’t have car jack and the necessary tools, asks me to wait for few minutes and vanishes for nearly half hour. I tried calling him couple of times and he just would not pick up the phone.
while i’m wondering if i should wait or take another cab, the driver show’s up empty handed and tells me that he’ll arrange for another cab calls his “colleague” who’s in the same area. I asked him if his colleague is an ola driver and if the car belongs to same company / registered to their network. he gets super annoyed, starts snapping back and tells me it doesn’t matter as it’ll cost me the same.
At this point, I’m running forty minutes late and i can’t find a cab in vicinity, i chose their auto service and decide to move.
This driver has the gall to ask extra money and tells me that i had to compensate for the lost 4o minutes as it was “company policy” I immediately told him that i’m calling the police, i pay whatever was charged and got out of there.
In another incident, i once took a cab late at night and reached my destination at 11.30pm. while i was making the payments and getting out of the cab, the driver asks me if i have another number and is literally hounding me to register / log in to the app using a different number and choose his car again, so that he gets paid extra for working after 12am. i have faced similar incident thrice , lodged complaints and it was utterly useless.
I apologize for the long rant, this is more of a PSA.
So, how should i or anybody in the same scenario, deal with this situation
