Why Ola Cabs is Getting Hugely Unpopular Amongst its Users Lately
OLA Cabs is by far the biggest car rental service in India and currently commands over 70 percent market share and is operational in over 80 cities in India. OLA has over 40,000 cars registered with them and claims to clock an average of 150000 bookings per day. It has recently raised over USD 400 Million and is valued at USD 3.5 Billion.
Ola seems getting hugely unpopular among its users lately, a lot of its users have posted grievances regarding its billing on social media sites. Here is one such post of an user.
#Ola just to make all my friends aware-
I have been a regular user of Ola cabs Bangalore, I was quite pleased by the service until sometime back. I use the service at least twice or thrice a week, mostly to move to and fro from my office.
Lately I have been observing a strange trend with the price they are charging for the rides. Irrespective of the time I book the cab, there is always a surcharge of 1.7x, 1.8x etc.One fine day I called up customer care just to inquire on what basis they charge extra and I was informed that the extra charges depends on the availability of the cab which means If there are less no.of cabs in your area, the time you are booking OLA, they will charge extra money. I was not quite convinced with the explanation was provided with, reason being I work in odd shifts, I generally travel to office around 11am-11:30 am and return after 9PM To my understanding the rush around that time should be ideally less. Today was another usual day when I was trying to book a cab from my home (Koramangala) to Office (Mahadevpura) which is precisely 12.73 kms, the time was around 11 am. As usual I got a prompt that the charges will be 1.7x, I booked the cab. Now the point is the surcharge was because of the unavailability of cabs right? But I could see more than 15 cabs hovering around my area.. Please find the proof of the same below.
And needless to mention, this is not the first time, it has happened lot many times before and its becoming a trend these days.
This post is dedicated to make all Ola cab users aware of the fare structure of Ola cabs and not to defame an organisation. Please use your wisdom while availing Ola or any other cab services in India.
Please share your story in the comments section on what problems you faced while availing Ola cab services in India.
