23-years-old Indian student of Coventry University Launches her own Brand of Herbal Products
A Coventry University graduate, born in India and raised in Dubai, Maitrayee launched her own company called Emcube Intercorporate and is all set to release a variety of herbal cosmetics products, starting with herbal hair colour.
Maitrayee Kulkarni stated, “It is my mission to have herbal products on the shelves of the high-end retailers to compete with all the other cosmetics, which have already made a niche for themselves. I want to make sure people understand that herbal cosmetics are not as expensive and that all the stigmas and myths attached do not exist”. She also added, “I have a range of around 30 products but I am going to start with two or three products and the core product at the moment is a herbal hair colour….It is 100 per cent natural hair colour providing the same results as the likes of L’Oréal and Garnier, but it is chemical free and there is no other product like that on the shelves now.”
Her passion for the cosmetics and beauty industry and she out found such products were not readily available or were very expensive while studying in Coventry – this motivated her to launch her own range of herbal products.
Robin Underhay, of Coventry University’s Institute of Applied Entrepreneurship said, “The detail in Maitrayee’s business plan demonstrated the potential her products have and we are delighted to have been able to assist her in her first steps into the industry. Maitrayee has discovered a real niche, and with her in-depth knowledge of the market is well-equipped for huge success.”
The strict legislation that governs cosmetic products in the UK has slowed the products’ entry to the market, but Maitrayee is confident that her research and access to the industry has put her in a position where she can compete against the Biggest Giant in the cosmetics industry.
